This Broadstone home now has a 5.17kWp solar and battery system, with all-black panels fitted across two slopes of its tiled roof.
The System
We installed 11 DMEGC 470W panels, giving a total system size of 5.17kWp. The panels are fixed with Fastensol roof hooks suited to each type of tile, and module-level optimisers help each panel perform at its best.
Two FOX ESS H1 5kW hybrid inverters provide 10kW of inverter power, converting the electricity the panels produce into power for the home. Surplus energy charges a FOX ESS EP12 Plus battery with 11.52kWh of storage, so solar energy generated during the day can be used in the evening. The inverter and battery are mounted on an outside wall under a protective canopy.
The panels come with a 25-year product warranty and a 30-year performance warranty, and the inverters and battery each have a 10-year warranty.
The Numbers
The system is estimated to generate 4,394 kWh of electricity a year, with an estimated payback period of 9 years and 4 months and estimated net savings of £20,384 over 20 years.
Once the system has paid for itself, after an estimated 9 years and 4 months, the savings keep building, to an estimated £20,384 over 20 years.
