Case Study · Bird Proofing & Cleaning
Bird Proofing, Cleaning & Panel Replacement at Oakdale Care Home
Oakdale Care Home had a problem with birds nesting underneath its solar PV array. We bird-proofed the system, cleaned it to bring it back to high efficiency, and replaced a broken panel.
- Bird proofing fitted around the array
- Full solar panel clean
- Broken panel replaced
Birds had been nesting underneath the solar PV array at Oakdale Care Home, and their droppings were falling into the courtyard used by the residents.
Bird Proofing the Array
We fitted bird proofing around the whole array, closing off the gap between the panels and the roof so birds can no longer get underneath to nest.
Cleaning the Panels
With the birds kept out, we cleaned the system to remove the dirt and droppings that had built up on the panels, getting it back to high efficiency.
Replacing a Broken Panel
While we were working on the roof, we noticed a broken panel. A broken panel creates resistance in the array and pulls down its output, so we removed it and fitted a replacement panel, increasing the system’s efficiency again.
The residents' courtyard is clear of mess from nesting birds, and the solar system is clean, repaired and back to high efficiency.
